GISBORNE SURFERS RETAIN CUPS AT WAINUI CARNIVAL

Representatives of the surf section of the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club retained the Bodle and Adair Cups at a surf carnival conducted at Wainui Beach during the week-end. There was a satisfactory attendance of the public and the blanket collection resulted in a return of £ll. A brisk northerly wind made conditions a littie unpleasant for competitors and visitors, the sea being choppy and the breakers uneven. It provided a good test for swimmers in the surf races.
