MILK BAR PROPRIETOR INJURED SERIOUSLY IN ALLEGED ASSAULT

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 17. Seriously injured in an alleged assault at Opunakc at 9.15 o’clock on Sunday night a well known Opunakc milk bar proprietor, Mr. D. O. McElrov, was taken to the New Plymouth Public Hospital. He suffered a number of wounds, particularly about the head and his condition at mid-day yesterday was reported to be serious. At 9.45 on Sunday night a 19U.vearoid Maori labourer. Anthony Itatahi, was arrested in Opunake. He was charged before justices of the peace in the Opunakc Court yesterday with assault, causing grievous bodily harm and on the application of Ihe police was remanded to appear on January 23.
