NOTED CRICKETER OF AUCKLAND DIES AFTER GAS POISONING
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Jan. 7. A former Auckland representative cricketer was found suffering from carbon-monoxide poisoning in his home on Thursday night. He was treated at the Auckland Hospital, but died yesterday morning. He was Blr. David Baxter Edmonds, aged 43, machinist, of Balmoral.
At the inquest, which was adjourned, evidence was given that the deceased was found with his head in a gas oven.
Edmonds made about 12 appearances as a wicket-keeper in Plunket Shield matches. He represented the province between 1933 and 1938 against Otago. In 1934 he was associated with Garrard in. a record last-wicket partnership of 90 runs.
