METHODIST GUILD’S FLOWER SHOW
Members of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild held a very successful flower show on Wednesday. Arrangements were in the hands of Mrs. D. F. McIntyre. During the afternoon Mrs. G. Milne sang several solos, Mrs. P. Kane gave recitations, and pianoforte solos were given by Elizabeth Aitchison, all the items being greatly appreciated. Mesdames E. Woodrow and B. H. Dodge, judges of the flowers, awarded the prizes as follows: Three varieties of cut flowers: Mrs. L. Steel. 1; Mrs. T. Holt, 2; Mrs. L. Stitchbury, 3. Annual, 1 vase: Mrs. H. Poole, 1; Mrs. E. B. Chambers. 2. Perennial, 1 vase: Mrs. T. Martin, 1; Mrs. E. McCulloch, 2; Mrs. L. Stitchbury, 3. Bowl of mixed flowers for luncheon table: Mrs. L. Steel, 1; Mrs. H. Poole, 2; Mrs. E. McCulloch and Mrs. E. Marriner, equal. 3. Lady’s shoulder spray: Mrs. L. Steel, 1; Mrs. E. Marriner, 2; Mrs. P. Martin, 3. Gift box of flowers: Mrs. E. Chambers, 1; Mrs. P. Martin and Mrs. L. Steel, equal, 2; Mrs. E. Matthews, 3. Posy bowl: Mrs. E. Langford, 1; Mrs. E. Chambers, 2; Mrs. H. Poole, 3. Low arrangement on flat plate: Mrs. L. Steel, 1; Mrs. W. McMurray, 2; Mrs. Jones. 3. Jug or jar of mixed flowers for 'shelf: Mrs. E, Marriner, 1; Miss G. Holmes, 2; Mrs. H. Poole, 3. Trough for shelf: Mrs. E. Langford. 1; Mrs. E. Matthews, 2; Mrs. Colebourne, 3. Trophy for most points, donated by Mrs. D. P. Mclntyre: Mrs. L. Steel. Mrs. T. Garrett donated prizes for the other first prize-winners. Mrs. E. Chambers thanked all helpers, especially judges and Mrs. D. P. Mclntyre. Afternoon tea was served by guild members.
