Dutch Press Glum Over Indies Talks
THE HAGUE, Aug. 25
Ti.e Dutch press yesterday showed signs of opposition criticism in comments on the Indonesia conference. A Calvinist Tromv commented that (lie fundamental views ot' the Dutch and Indonesian delegations were greatly divergent. It added: "It is striking that the United Nations’ Commission circles are very gloomy about the results of the conference and, for the time being, we join these pessimists.” The Socialist Het Vrije Volk said: "The delegations will not find it easy to prove that the time of conflict is past and that we stand on the threshold of a new period in DutchIndonesian relations.”
