OFFER TO RETURN STOLEN JEWELS FOR REWARD

(10 a.m.) CASABLANCA, Aug. 18. An offer to hand over the Begum Aga Khan’s stolen jewels in return for the reward offered by the Begum and (he insurers was made today in a letter received by the editor of a Moroccan evening newspaper.

The letter, which has been handed to the police, was signed with initials. It said the writer had t.he most important part of the jewels in his possession and would return them if the reward were paid.

“If the police make an appointment through your paper with the assurance asked for, we may be able to come to terms.”

The Begum's jewels were stolen on August 3 bv armed hold-up men, who stopped the Aga Khan's car in Cannes.
