Supersonic Plane Research Centre
(10 a.m.) WASHINGTON. Aug. 14. The Senate yesterday approved a 311,000,000-dollar bill for research into supersonic planes and guided missiles. The bill authorises the air force to spend 150,000,000 dollars for a start on the construction of an engineering development centre and also calls for the building of 22 wind tunnels at a cost of 161,040,000 dollars for testing models of supersonic planes and guided missiles. The Senate was told that the engineering centre eventually would cost 1,000.000.000 dollars.
The bill was sent to the House of Representatives for approval.
