New Chief Of U.S. Forces In Europe
(10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 14. General Thomas Handy was yesterday appointed Chief of the European Command. He succeeds General Lucius Clay, who retired recently. General Handy will command all the United States military forces in Europe except those in Austria.
