Battle Of Britain Hero’s Tragic End
LONDON, Aug. 12.
A 35-year-old Battle of Britain hero, Wing Commander John V. Simpson, decorated by His Majesty with the D.F.C, for gallantry, died in hospital today after being found in St. James Park with a bullet wound in his temple. A man in the park said he saw Wing Commander Simpson sit under a tree, fumble with his tunic and then there was a loud report and Wing Commander Simpson rolled over.
