ARMY APPEAL IN GISBORNE YIELDS THIRTY PROBABLES

“Definite interest in the Army as a career has been displayed in Gisborne during the past week when a recruiting campaign has been conducted for personnel for the Regular Force,” stated Captain R. B. Lockett, sub-area officer.

One hundred applicants were interviewed, he said, and 40 expressed a wish to enter the Army. On Saturday the interviewing officer put several of the applicants through an aptitude test to learn how best they could be employed in the Army and that was followed by a personal selection interview. Allowing for wastage, it was expected that 30 recruits would be signed up ns a result of the appeal in Gisborne.
