BRAVE NEW ZEALANDER WINS FIRST D.S.O. IN MALAYAN CAMPAIGN
I*lo a.m.) SINGAPORE. Aug. 12 A New Zealander, Captain A. _F. E Lucas, of the Devonshire Regiment who fought a lone half-hour battli with a bandit gang in Pahang, has beei awarded the D.S.O. This is the first D.S.O. won in tin campaign against the terrorists. While awaiting assistance, Captaii Lucas made a one-man charge ant kept the bandits in check by shoutini orders to imaginary troops. His family home is at 409 Southamp ton street, Hastings, New Zealand. Hi, wife lives at Aldershot, England.
