WAIROA RUGBY REPS. FOR SUB-UNION DAY

(S.R.) WAIROA, May 24. The Wairoa Rugby team to play against Dannevirke on sub-union day was approved at a meeting of the management committee last evening. The team is:—Backs B. Christy, C. Taite, W. Rongo, Barney Smith, L. Thompson, D. Nugent, W. Blake; forwards, T. O’Connor, Jim Brownlie, G. Greening, D. Gordon, A. Anderson, S. Smith. C. Smith, B. Ormond. Reserves: J. Pinkham, H. Watts, M. Nepia, N. Tureia. On the motion of Mr. V. Fraser it was decided, after a lengthy discussion, to seek a ruling from the Hawke’s Bay union concerning the case of a player who had taken the field for the Hurumua club without a clearance from Tapuae, for whom he had taken the field in the first game of the season. The case had been ventilated at the previous meeting of the committee. Mr. Fraser explained that his reason for reintroducing the question was that the man concerned again played for Hurumua last Saturday without a clearance from Tapuae nor anything further being done to clear up.the earlier complaint. In explanation of the omission of the player’s name from the team card it was stated that he had taken the place of a player who was absent and the alteration of the list had been overlooked. The explanation was accepted bv the committee.
