IMPROVED TELEPHONE COMMUNICATION
An assurance that telephonic com-' munication between Opotiki, Te Kaha and Cape. Runaway will be improved considerably in the near future has been received by Mr. W. Sullivan, M.P. for the Bay of Plenty frofri the PostmasterGeneral, Mr. F. liackett. The reconstruction of the existing toll line between Opotiki and Cape Runaway and an additional pircuit between Opotiki and Te Kaha are envisaged by the Post and Telegraph Department. Owing to the shortage of poles it is not known when the work will be put in hand.
