MR. JUSTICE CORNISH, after conducting the quarterly session of the Supreme Court in Gisborne last week, left on Saturday for Wellington. MR. J. B. WILLIAMS presided at yesterday's meeting of the Cook Hospital Board. Also present were Mrs. E. R. Scott, Messrs. G. W. Armstrong, W. C. Kohn, J. H. Hall, H. J. F. Tombleson, H. H. Dods, H. Cooper, and A. M. Trafford. MR. J. McGUIRE, Onehunga, and Mr. R. Henderson, Alexandra, were visitors at yesterday’s weekly luncheon meeting of the Gisborne Rotary Club, held in the Bon Accord Lounge. MR. J. W. GOODWIN, F.R.H.S., F.R.I.H. (N.Z.),' has been appointed curator of Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, subject to formal confirmation by the city council. Mr. Goodwin is at present superintendent of grounds at Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North.. There were 14 applicants for the position. MR. R. SEMPLE, Minister of Works, arrived at Auckland by train on Saturday morning and paid a visit to the site in Mount Roskill where construction has been started on 56 units of flats for pensioners. Mr- Semple left for Wellington by the Limited Express on Sunday.
