U.N. “COME TO STAY AS ORGAN OF PEACE”

(10 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 19. The United Nations remained the supreme organ for world peace and had come to stay, said Dr. H. V. Evatt, addressing the closing meeting of the General Assembly-

“The people of the world know that we. are moving steadily ahead,” he said. “The United Nations is and remains the supreme organ of world peace and for economic and social justice among nations. "This session of the Assembly has written its name on the enduring pages of man’s accomplishment. As 1 predicted the voices of the cynics and doubters and mischief-makers are far more subdued. I think the people of the \vorld know more than ever that the United Nations is their instrument and that the United Nations’ idea is their best hope on earth for peace to -all men.”
