POSSIBILITY OF LIFTING N.Z. PETROL RATION

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 19. The possibility of lifting petrol rationing in New Zealand was mentioned by the president, Mr. W\ H. Brown, to the council of the North Island Motor Union today. He said the union had certain information which it was as yet unable to disclose. 1 Reporting on a deputation to the Minister of Supply, Mr. A. 11. Nordmeyer. he said the situation seemed to be that communications had been sent to the British Government, and Mr. Nordmeyer was awaiting a reply before he could make any decision about rationing. The Minister was in favour of abolition, he said, but up to now’ no reply had been received.
