Auckland Tabernacle Resignation From Union Now Withdrawn

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 6. Following the recent resignation of Dr. Alexander Hodge as its minister the Auckland Tabernacle Church has withdrawn its letter of resignation from the Baptist Union of New Zealand.

A letter was sent to the executive of the union in 1944 following the suspension of Dr. Hodge as a recognised minister of the union.

In a statement issued yesterday the union’s executive says the letter of resignation was never “received” by the executive, but it was simply allowed to lie on the table. “The reception of a letter withdrawing that resignation has had the effect of restoring completely the relationship within the Baptist Union of the Tabernacle Church and other Baptist churches in the Dominion. The 1949 assembly meetings of the union will be held in the Auckland Tabernacle Church early in November.”
