WAIHUKA SIRE FROM WYOMING: ARRIVAL SHORTLY

The arrival of a two-year-old Hereford bull at Auckland next week will bring this American sire, the first of the kind to be purchased by Messrs. Hutchinson Brothers, one stage nearer the stud at Waihuka. The bull will be taken to Wellington to undergo the usual quarantine procedurePreviously, the Waihuka stud had relied on English importations, but the quality of the new sire has been highly recommended. It comes from "the Wyoming Hereford Ranch, an internationally famous stud. The new bull was one of a carlot that won the recent carlot class at the Denver National Show, a class that has been won on 18 occasions by the ranch in the past 23 years. Two or three New Zealand breeders now in America have spoken highly of the new sire's blood lines, and American breeders have been disappointed that he is travelling so far afield. An interesting feature of the transaction was the use of radio-telephonic communication in the final stages of the negotiations. By tnat means, Mr. E. M. Hutchinson was able to converse with the Wyoming studmaster as clearly as if he were making a local telephone call.
