RUGBY SUB-UNIONS CAN BE INCLUDED IN TOWN SERIES
At a preliminary meeting of tha management committee of the F.B« Rugby Union yesterday afternoon Mr, M. H. Beuth was returned as chairman and in view of the possible entpr of sub-unions into the town competition it was decided to delay the start of thosa competitions until April 30. The meeting was called to discuss the entry of the Ngatapa, Motu and Waikohu sub-unions into the town competitions. It was decided to send delegates from the management committee to attend sub-union annual meetings to put proposals to members in regard to finance -and travelling arrangements. A conclusion was reached that tha system could be put into operation to the satisfaction of the union and subunions.
Sub-unions will be invited to ente? teams in the town competitions in tha name of the sub-union, giving them more scope in the selection of their sides. It was agreed that in that way the country players would be brought before the notice of the union selectors each week.
Nominations for all grades will closa on April 23 and it is aimed to get eight nominations for the senior division.
An application was received from tha Kaiti City club for affiliation and granted. The application stated that the re. vived ciub had absorbed the Union club of last season and would be entering junior and senior grade teams. Attention was drawn by the Kaiti City club to a sevena-side Rugby tourney to be played on the Kaiti Memorial Park on Easter Saturday and the union was asked for its support. The meeting agreed that the clubs should be advised of the tournament ■and asked to give it their support.
