DELEGATES SEEK FORMAL CONSENT OF THE MINISTER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 7. The registration of a new union consisting of a large proportion of the members of the deregistered Auckland section of the Carpenters’ Union was sought by representatives of the new union who waited upon the Minister of Labour. Mr. A. A. McLaga'n today. Under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, the consent of the Minister of Labour is required for the registration of a new union following the deregistration of a section of workers concerned.
It is reported that 700 carpenters have now joined the union.
