PACK-ICE PREVENTS RESCUE OF PARTY IN ANTARCTIC
CAPE TOWN, April 5. Eleven men marooned among icepacks at Marguerite Bay in the South Antarctic will have to remain there another year. It was disclosed tonight that the rescue ship John Briscoe, which started out on a 500-mile journey to rescue them an dturned back after failing to get through the icefloes. A member of the party which went on a scientific expedition to the South Antarctic two years ago said, in a message received today, that they had sufficient supplies and would be safe for another year.
