Acres to the Sheep.
As an illustration of the vast areas her Countrywomen’s Association covered in New South Wales, an Australian visitor to Hastings, Mrs. J. M. Gordon, spoke of inland areas carrying as much as “eight to 10 acres to the sheep.” It was generally rated as “three-acre” country, and only Tn the lush mountain regions was it a case of “sheep to the acre.” The New Zealand sheepfarming land had presented a marked contrast to her.
