Children's "Beano" Ends In Court
(10 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 8. An unbroken trail of ice cream wafers and nut shells leading a quarter of a mile through the streets led to the appearance in the Chatham Juvenile Court of two brothers aged nine and 10, and their 12-year-old sister.
They admitted looting two shops in the town’s main shopping street, taking cartons of ice cream, 20 boxes of dates, 601 b. of peaches and nuts, toys and games, a pair of roller skates and a steel helmet. Detectives picked up the trail of nut shells and arrested the children. The children’s younger brothers and sister, aged four, five and six, participated in the “beano,” but were not charged. The two boys were sent to an approved school, and the girl’s punishment will be decided later.
