Warships’ Exercises Delayed By Weather
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Mar. 7. The first • day of the New Zealand naval squadron’s exercises in coastal waters near Cook; Strait has been cancelled. j The senior ship of the three frigates which were to rendezvous with H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona in Cook Strait this morning signalled that the weather was unsuitable. The Bellona. accordingly, did not sail today and the frigates Kaniere, Taupo and Pukakai entered harbour and anchored. The Taupo, which is due at Wellington today from Apia, will also take part in the exercises and the Kiwi will be used to tow the target ship.
