South Africans’ Good Start In Final Test: Wicketkeeper 125

(11 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, Mar. 7. South Africa scored 379 runs in the first innings of the final cricket test against England at Port Elizabeth at the rate of 40 an hour. South Africa must win this test to draw the series as England as won one of the previous test matches. Wade, the South African wicket keeper, scored Mis first test century. His 125 occupied 280 minutes and included 11 boundaries.

Mitchell fell one short of his century after 397 minutes of painstaking batting. Hutton and Washbrook gave England a good start, putting on 78 for the first wicket in even time.
