U.S. WILL NOT BUDGE FROM SUPPORT OF ATLANTIC PACT
(N.Z.P.A.—Reuter —Copyright.) (10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 7. Senator Tom Connally, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the changes in the Soviet Foreign Office would not cause the United States to “budge one inch” from its support of the North Atlantic Pact. Senator Connally said he would not be surprised to see the Soviet increase its pressure against the West. He added that the real test of Russia’s intentions would come when the North Atlantic Pact was signed. The State Department spokesman said the department’s official stand is that the Soviet Foreign Office changes are the ‘ Soviet’s business and not ours.”
