HALF W.R.C. EVENTS WON BY H.B-P.B. HORSES
(Herald Special Service.) Trentham for some vears has proved a lucky course for Hawke's Bay-P.B. owners and horses and the opening day of the current meeting of the Wellington Racing Club was no exception. They scored in four of the eight events, including two of the principal races, while in the N.Z. St. Leger no entrant from this quarter went to the post. In the first, race, the Highweight, the Hastings-trained Ivanhoe and Lord Boswells were first and third respectively. while Golden Hope was nosed out of fourth money right on the post. Sweet Spray, a warm favourite on both the win and place machines, could only run third in the Juvenile Handicap event, will) a similar placing going to the favourite and Gisborne-owned topweight King's Ransom in the £4OOO Autumn Handicap. Outlook annexed the seven furlong hack event in a 'photo finish, and in the same race the Gisborne farm-trained gelding Vane Master collected fourth prize. Demonic annexed the major portion of the prizemoney offering in the W.R.C. Thompson Handicap. The five-year-old mate False Slep made amends for an unlucky season bv winning the rich Telegraph Handicap, and in the last event Greenlignt got the consolation prize by running third.
