U.S. AIR EXPERTS VISIT DOMINION

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Mar. 7. On a goodwill mission, BrigadierGeneral Robert F. Travis, officer commanding the United States Pacific Air Command, arrived at Whenuapai this morning from Hobart. He is travelling in a Skymaster transport plane with a staff of 14. Brigadier-General Travis expects to leave for Samoa at 10 o'clock tonight. He was met at Whenuapai by Colonel W. Taylor, American. Air Attache in Wellington, Mr. J. Boyd, American Vice-Consul in Auckland, and by R.N.Z.A.F. officers. The mission began work by Inspecting air facilities in Japan. China and the Philippines. It arrived in Sydney on March 1 and later visited Melbourne and Tasmania. Brigedier-General Travis’ services in the Second World War won him an array of American and European decorations.
