Tighter Security Over Scientific Research
CANBERRA, Mar.. 4. The Federal Government has decided to reconstitute the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and to change the name to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. Security precautions will also be tightened. The Minister for Post-War Reconstruction, Mr- J. J. Dedman, told a Labour caucus that employees would be “screened” and required to take the oatli of allegiance to the Crown. Present and new stall: members would have to take a character test, but there would be no political test.
