£BOO,OOO DAMAGE BY CYCLONE IN QUEENSLAND

cyclone which struc k Central Queensland this week caused over £BOO,OOO damage in Rockhampton,

Gladstone and Bundaberg alone,

Reports from the country districts and smaller towns are incomplete. The State Divisional Meteorologist, Mr. A- S. Richards, said that in intensity the cyclone was the most severe recorded in Queensland in the past 30 years.

The Queensland Government has sent building material to Gladstone and Rockhampton and with the Red Cross Society and "Country Women’s Association, has contributed to a special relief fund.
