SECRET COCKFIGHTING TOURNEYS IN ENGLAND
(11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 4. Secret cockfighting tourneys were still staged in England, said Sir William Darling in the House of Commons today. He told the House that cocks were often carried to meets in cattle floats and other vehicles.
The House gave a second reading_ to his “Baiting of Animals”‘Bill which prohibits the possession of any animal trained or prepared for fighting, dr of any instrument designed for use in animal fighting or baiting. Cockfighting has been * illegal since 1835.
