COTTON FOR MEDICAL USE
The 1949 British Industries Fair, which will be open in London and Birmingham from May 2 until May 13 will prove the truth in ilie Lancashire expression: "You can’t get away from cotton. Lancashire, more than 50,000,000 yards of cotton materials are produced annually, of which a large proportion is medical-gauze. Main exports of this material arc to Canada. Sweden, Denmark, South Africa. Rhodesia, Australia and Turkev. The mills produce the gauze from the raw cotton to the final package form, ready for consumer use. Seen through a screen of medical gauze, this girl is operating a high-speed machine which handles gauze at full width and delivers it on rolls W -folded into four.
