AMUSEMENTS
t Majestic.-—“Man-Eater of Kumaon," starring Sabu, Joan Page and Wendell Corey, heads today’s programme. It tells the gripping story of a hunter who became the hunted—of a village surrounded by lurking death —and of a beautiful girl whose love defied the jungle terror, and led her to offer herself as a human sacrifice. The associate feature, “Arabian Nights," stars Jon Hall, Maria Montez and Sabu and is filmed in Technicolour.
King's.—Starring Randolph Scott and Marguerite Chapman, Columbia’s “Coroner Creek," Cinecolour version of Luke Short’s Saturday Evening Post story, is showing at the King’s Theatre today. Principal supporting players are George Macready, Sally Eilers and Edgar Buchanan. “Coroner Creek" is reported to be the story of a cowboy’s savage vengeance against the betrayer of hia beloved. # Guncrazy with hate, he relentlessly hunts his foe through the lawless west of the United States, finally cornering him in the Arizona town of Coroner Creek.
Regent.—M.G.M.’s “Homecoming," which is now showing at the Regent Theatre, is one of the finest screen dramas of recent years. It stars Clark Gable and Lana Turner. Gable offers what is undoubtedly the finest performance of his career as a self-satisfied surgeon, and Lana Turner rises to new heights as the heroine who convinces him of the shallowness of his mode of life. Add to that the sensitive portrayal of Anpe Baxter, as the wife who strugges to hold the man she knows to he in love with a memory, and that of John Hodiak, as Gable’s pal who finally persuades him to devote his life to helping others, and you have a gallery of superb acting portrayals.
