WEDNESDAY’S POLL ARRANGEMENTS IN GISBORNE
The two issues to be decided by the electors on Wednesday next deal with hotel closing hours and a proposal tor oli-course betting.. The effective Gisborne electoral roll numbers 1j,230, an increase ol almost 2Uu on the roll at the 1046 general elections. The registrar ot tne Supreme Court, Gisborne, Mr. J. A. Fyie, explained today that all electors whose applications for enrolment were accepted belore 6 p.m. on the date of the closing ot the roll, February 14, would be eligible to cast their votes. The booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. the same hours as those observed tor the general elections. He said it should be noted that the Masonic Hail was not available for use as a polling booth. Electors near the intersection of Childers and Stanley roads would be served by a booth at a garage adjacent to the intersectionThe Rutene road electors would be able to cast their votes in a marquee to be set up on the children’s playground beside the croquet courts. All hotels in the district will be closed from noon for the remainder of the day as they do on the days of general elections. “On this occasion special facilities will be made for absent voters at a booth established at the courthouse," said Mr. Fyfe, “and they are requested to make use of this booth as far as possible. “Maori voters, instead of entering any booth for the purpose of voting,
are asked to attempt to make use of the booth at which they usually do their voting. It is difficult to arrange booth supplies to meet the situation if electors do not patronise their customary voting places.” Polling Booths Listed
