MEDICINAL DRUGS IN N.Z. ISSUE FOR DOCTORS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 4 The Minister of Health, Miss Mabel Howard, commenting on statements by the visiting English expert on local government, Dr. E. W. Maples concerning medicinal drugs consumed in New Zealand, said it was really the medical profession in New Zealand with whom Dr. Maples had embroiled himself. “I can assure him the Government leaves the doctors prescriptions to the doctors and if he is alarmed at the amount consumed he should discuss the matter with the British Medical Association,” said Miss Howard.

She was afraid that Dr. Maples was viewing New Zealand’s small population set-up from the viewpoint of England’s vast population.
