Two Men Guilty Of Stealing Vinegar And Liquor
(P.A.) ASHBURTON, Dec. 21 Charged before Mr. E. A. Lee S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court with the theft of a 36-gallon cask of vinegar valued at £4 9s Gd, together with a quantity of liquor which comprised Christmas hampers valued at £ll 11s 7d, also with the theft of liquor valued at ,£!) 18s Gd, from a railway goods shed. Frederick Raymond Blackmore, aged 31, a labourer, was sentenced to three months’ hard labour on each charge, the sentences to bo concurrent. Samuel Arthur Protheroe, aged 41, a labourer, was charged with the theft of vinegar and liquor and was fined £2O and ordered to make restitution of £7 15s Bd, this being the value of the unrecovered liquor.
