King’s.—" Forever Amber" is to be screened to Gisborne audiences today for the first time. The film version which keeps clear of phases which caused banning of the novel, is well presented and enhanced by Technicolour. Amber runs the is amut of serving maid to mistress of a king, and her colourful adventures are faithfully portrayed. Regent.—" High Wall,** featuring Robt. Taylor, concludes this evening. The Paramount production. "So Evil My Love,” starring Ray Midland, Ann Todd and Geraldine Fitzgerald, commences tomorrow. The film is based on a novel by Joseph Shearing, dealing with the transformation of a fine woman into a thief, a blackmailer and, finally, ft murderess—all for the sake of the man she lover-. The origin of the story is a murder ca*e heard in England in the 1850’s. Mnjestic.—"The Gangster," which screens today, is a powerful crime drama which tells the story of the rise and fall of a gangster. Barry Sullivan plays the part of the gangster with Belita as the woman who brought about his downfall. The associate programme includes the Metro News, Beauty Spots of England, a Pathe Pictorial ami the N.Z. Review which includes scenes of the professional tennis players visiting New Zealand.
