MAIZE CRIB IRON NOW IN STORE IN GISBORNE
Nine tons of corrugated iron allocated for the covering of maize cribbage in the Gisborne district have arrived and are being held in stock by a Gisborne film.
An announcement to this effect was made by the secretary, Mr. A. J. Slock, yesterday afternoon to a meeting of the Gisborne provincial executive of Federated Farmers. Mr. Stock explained the branch had been making strenuous endeavours over a long period to secure an allocation of iron for the purpose. A quantity similar to that now received had been allocated in August, but had been diverted to Frankton Junction at the time of the. tornado there. 'the quota now received amounted in all to 1300 sheets.
He assumed that it. was now 100 late for this season’s crop, but would be a welcome relief to those who hod committed themselves in this season's plantings. The iron would have to be re-allocated, but the whole matter would be one for the agricultural section, to which the matter was referred for attention.
