VIOLENT STORM’S TRAIL OF HAVOC IN N.S.W. TOWN

(11.30 a-m.) sruNEY, Dec. 17. A violent storm cm a narrow swame through Scone, about 140 miles northwest of Sydney, unroofing or damaging over 50 houses. The damage is estimated at £15,000. Seventy points of rain fell in eight minutes and hail smashed hundreds of windows. Trees were uprooted and telegraph poles blown down by high winds.

Two linesmen working at the top of an electric light pole had a narrow escape when the pole snapped off at the base and crashed down. The men fell but escaped with minor abrasions.

Another pole which a linesman had just left was hurled across the road Three miles away there was no wind.
