"Perfect Sitter"

LONDON, Dec. 15.

The first photographs of Prince Charles for general distribution were taken in the white drawing room at Buckingham Palace after the christening. The photographers unanimously agreed that Prince Charles was a “perfect sitter.” He was photographed in his christening robes 16 times in just over 80 minutes. He slept most of the time in turns in the arms of Princess Elizabeth, the Queen and Queen Mary. He cried only once or twice for a few seconds.

Photographers, thinking that standing might impose too much strain on His Majesty, arranged a chair for him, but he declined, saying he preferred to stand. His Majesty helped to arrange the various groups. The photographs taken included the Royal Family group, the baby with his mother and the Queen and Queen Mary, and the father, mother and infant Prince.
