Royal Servants Dance In State Ballroom

LONDON, Dec. 16.

Buckingham Palace servants and-the Royal Household staff for their annual Christmas ball and party danced in the State ballroom on the first floor of the Palace which is normally reserved for Courts, evening receptions and similar glittering functions. His Majesty had stated that the arrangements were to go ahead despite his illness. The Queen and Princess Margaret joined the party. The Master of the Household and the chairman of the staff social club, Sir Piers Legh, told the Queen: ‘‘We are delighted to know His Majesty is making such excellent progress. We pray that his recovery will be speedy and complete. We wish your Majesties and the Royal Family a very happy Christmas." The Queen, who was dressed in a black and gold crinoline evening gown with a diamond tiara, look the floor with her page, Mr lack Kemp, in an old-fashioned waltz.

Princess Margaret, in a pale blue evening dress with gold lace, partnered Mr George Johnson Under-Yeoman of the Royal Cellar Scottish and oldfashioned country dances were mingled with foxtrots, rhumbas and sambas in the programme.
