PAEROA FEATURES FINAL PUBLIC RUNS BY AUCKLAND CANDIDATES BEFORE BIG ELLERSLIE BIDS

(Herald Special Service)

The Ohmemuri Jockey Club’s progi’amme at Paeroa tomorrow provides a number of candidates for the Auckland Racing Club s summer meeting with the opportunity for final performances in public prior to the contests fer the more important Ellerslic prizes. A disappoint mg absentee from the IJ-ftirlong' Hauraki ( up us Lord Revel, who is reported showing something like his form of last autumn. The probable field for the sprint race tomorrow includes many of the Railway Handicap acceptors, including Chubin and Beau FHitcr. There is every indication of the going being firm and fast.

★HAURAKI CUP CONSPIRACY, one of Ihc most prominent middle-distance handicap horses in commission this season, lias the steadier of 9.11 and has to concede lib. to the Poverty Bay representative, King's Ransom. The Baffles gelding is in great form, but may have clone sufficient racing this season to fit him for the Auckland Cup wntiout this race. KING'S RANSOM. 9.10, will be in need of this pipe-opener and with last Saturday's race and the work this last six days it is expected the big Lang Bian gelding will show a marked improvement. VALLEY BOY, 9.3, is reported as having freshened up a little. On his most recent form he appeared to have gone off, but his class in the last two years has been good. He now meets the top-weight on practically 281bs. better terms than he would have earlier in the season.

★SHAW HANDICAP This is the dress rehearsal for the big lA.R.C. Railway Handicap. Contango may find some of this lot just a little too “slippery.” Flowerburn in seven starts this season has a solitary third to his credit, and with 8.9 has his work cut out tomorrow, although he will have a track made to order for him. Beaufighler, 8.3, is a very interesting acceptor as he has been hinted at for some time as a probable Railway winner, but this Great Northern Champagne Stakes winner has not raced this season. Cliubin, a brilliant filly last season, has only started once this season and then she won. She is one of the early favourites for the Boxing Day big sprint. I’inc Park, 8.1, was second last Saturday which brings him into line of the possibilities. The Grate, from the far south, may find the distance a little short. Morocco, 7.12, has not raced since running second to Miss Bairnsfather at Wellington last October. His speed is not questioned. Robin Leigh and Grand Tourist do not make strong appeals, but Pavaals, of the honest' type, is always included as one that might pay a dividend. Flying Officer won over a mile last Saturday, but will be racing tomorrow over a course shorter by two furlongs. General Menteith, Niloeh, Rozami and Craven are smart gallopers at times and for that reason may prove the best of the lightweights. THE MINOR EVENTS In the opening event, the Hack Hurdle Race, there is a fair amount of recent form of a kind offering. Those who make the race appear rather open one arc Te Ark, Miss Sterling, open one are Te Ark, Harris Tweed (goes well sometimes). Ostentatious, Cornell, Race Lad College Boy, Miss Sterling, Tote Odds, Modern View and

FRANCES, 8.3, lias done all her racing up to a mile and her prospects over the extra five furlongs will involve one to do some guess work as to her chances now.

lIUNTORE, 0.3, has run well enough this season to include him among the possibles tomorrow. FRONTIER MAC, 8.0. is an "iffer” and has run his best races on easy going.

REGAL PRAISE, 7.12. has won races like the G.N. Oaks and the G.N. St. Leger, but that was in the autumn of 1940. Since then she has only won one decent race. BRAMBLE SONG, 7.4. made his name as a hurdler, but two years ago weiglied-in in the Auckland Cup. Has no recent form. OBSERVATORY’, 7.1. is having this race to fit him for the hurdles on Auckland Gup day. EAR!)ALE, 7.1. is a possibility, though he let his supporters down with a bump the other day. HUNTING RCA, 7.1. was in the money last Saturday and must have a place show again. OKALAHOMA, JEEP, MAID OF SHERWOOD and PIMLICO appeal most of those on the minimum, 7.0.

Battle Royal, who is well reported upon, but who did fail the other week.

The five furlong two-year-old race sees smart gallopers in Gay Cushla, Theiolette, Lady Zenib and Boy Blue on top of the handicap. Although there are a further 20 odd engaged there is no form offering to help in summing up this race. They may contain some budding champions. The Waihi Stakes is for non-winners among three-year-old colts, fillies and geldings and the winner seems well concealed. The Nclhcrton Stakes is four four-year-olds and upwards who are also non-winners. These events will not create a deal of interest off the course. There will be two hack races run over 10 and six furlongs respectively. Over the former distance Sir Vite appeals but will have to contend with oromising hacks like Gollen, Radiant Fox, The Bat, Luminous and Jildi Jow, who have all shown form of late. The last event on the card is the Waikino Hack. Here form gives chances to Lady Carmel (most consistent of late and having her last run in this class), Intervene. Fearless Wings, Eurolie, Bulos and Concise. Among those lower still down the list are Lady Finis, Hardware, Ending and some others who have it in them to bring off a surprise.
