PROMOTED PUPILS FAREWELLED AT KAITI PRIMARY
The community spirit in the Kaiti School was exemplified yesterday afternoon when pupils due to proceed to Intermediate School next year were farewelled by those of other standards. The occasion was celebrated at short notice, and took the form of a novelty sports programme at which the guests were the competitors, and a bumper afternoon tea provided by parents of the scholars. A “plum scramble” which wound up the proceedings found the competitive instinct very highly developed. Placings in the novelty sports events were:—Book-on-Head Race. Girls: Prudence Field, 1; Margery Deverell, 2. Boys: Vincent Gibbons, 1; Scott Stafford, 2. Three-Legged Race.—-Girls: Janice Haynes and Margery Deverell, 1; Maureen Forbes and. Ri Poki, 2. Boys: John Moxley and John Kerekere, 1; Wilson Tautau and John Schroder, 2. Catching the Train—Girls: Noleen Costain, 1; Avis Wootton, 2, Boys: Ronnie Hopps, 1; Brian Raggit, 2. Backwards Race.—Girls: Valerie Newman, 1; Patsy Poki, 2. Wheelbarrow Race.—Boys: Richard Milner and Ernest Kent, 1; John Kerekere and John Moxley, 2. Slow Bicycle Race.—Girls: Valerie Figg. 1; Judy Wilson, 2, Boys: Brian Raggit, 1; Terry Lowe, 2.
