False Values Caused By Inflationary Policy, Says Mr. Holland
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 16. “Wool has gone to an unheard-of Drice in Christchurch yesterday and it is bad for New Zealand that we should have false prices." said Mr. S. G. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, in an address last evening. The inflationary policy of the Government made those false values possible and .had built up income to a level which could only spell disaster when normal times returned, said Mr. Holland. Nobody had dreamt of 81d per lb. being realised for wool. The Government made up the difference between the upset price and the prices obtained, he said. That difference came from taxation and that was why prices were so high. The local mills could buy all the wool they wanted at high values and the Government made up the difference.
