Septic Tanks Criticised
As it considered the septic tank system was unsuitable for the type of country on which Hamilton was situated, the Local Government Commission had suggested in its report that no more installations should be allowed and the community system of sewerage adopted. Complete ignorance of tire functions of a septic tank and the necessary treatment of the effluent also appeared tu be almost universal among those who adopted the method, the commission stated.
