Assistant Sanitary Inspector The appointment of an assistant sanitary inspector for the borough is to be considered by the estimates committee of the Gisborne Borough Council. A report of the sanitation committee adopted at last night's meeting of the council stated that the Department of Health had advised it Was continually receiving complaints concerning insanitary conditions in dwellings. An investigation often revealed defects of an obvious character such as would be shown up in house-to-house surveys. The department suggested that more should be done by local authorities in the way of routine inspections of dwellings and recommended that the council should consider the appointment of an assistant inspector Cor this work.
