SUCCESS OF FOXWYN IN WAIPA SPRINT
(Herald Special Service.) Foxwvn, an acceptor for the Auckland Cup, won the seven-furlong Flying Handicap at Te Awamutu on Saturday. Foxwyn knows the Ellerslie course thoroughly. In 1944 he was the winner of the Auckland Cup and flic following year he was prominent most of the way, but died out at the finish. In 1946, with 8-10, he acted as runner-up to the surprise winner, Sylis. Last year he again competed but was never prominent. In Saturday's Waipa sprint a Railway Handicap candidate, Te Tui, ran a very disappointing race. The field was by no ’ means up to metropolitan standard, yet with 7st. 61b. she was unable to gain a place. Pine Park, second to Foxwyn in the Waipa sprint, will meet Te Tui on lib. better terms in the Railway.
