ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD DAVID WESTERN, a Boy Scout, of Allison road, Acton, London, is seen in this picture showing the Albert Medal to his cousin and sister outside Buckingham Palace after his investiture by His Majesty the King. It was awarded for his extreme bravery last February, when three of his friends fell through the ice while skating on a frozen lake in Osterley Park, near London. David dived to the rescue, helped one of them out, and twice went back with a rope to try to help the other two. He is the youngest-ever winner of the Albert Medal.
