Mystery Of Scots’ £IOOO Grant To French Miners
(10.40 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13
A conference representing 80,000 Scottish miners decided to send a delegation to France next week to find oul what has happened to a £IOOO cheque which Scottish miners sent to alleviate distress caused by the recent French strike.
The conference passed an unanimous resolution “protesting most emphatically that a false statement made by Mr. John Baker White (Conservative) in the House of Commons last week to the effect that the money was used by the French Trade Union Council to reduce their bank overdraft instead of relieving French miners' dependants i? without foundation.”
