RED AIR FORCE LEAD IN JET WARPLANES

(10 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13. John W. H. Taylor, editor of the Aircraft Annual, who is also connected with a British aircraft firm, writing in the Aircraft Annual, 1949, states: “At the end of the war the American and British Air Forces decided to make do with their existing equipment for a few years. While they were doing this, Russian designers have made tremendous technical advances, probably through ihe help of German scientists. As a result squadrons of powerful modern jet bombers and fighters are already in service with the Red Air Force. The R.A.F. and U.S.A.A.F., on the other hand, still rely largely on improved models of aircraft in service at the end of the war.”
